Arrival is made in western Uganda, followed by a transfer to the Nyakalengija trailhead for registration and briefing. The trek is then initiated through cultivated foothills and montane forest, with gradual elevation gain allowing the body to begin adapting to altitude. Nyabitaba Hut is reached in the afternoon, positioned on a ridge overlooking the Mubuku Valley. Overnight accommodation is provided at Nyabitaba Hut.

The ascent is continued through bamboo forest and dense vegetation, with several river crossings along the way. The trail becomes more humid and rugged as elevation increases, introducing trekkers to the physical demands of the Rwenzori. John Matte Hut is reached near the edge of the Bigo Bog system. Overnight accommodation is provided at John Matte Hut.

A slow and deliberate crossing of the Upper Bigo Bog is undertaken, where boardwalks and muddy sections dominate the landscape. Vegetation gradually shifts into afro-alpine flora marked by giant lobelias and groundsels. Bujuku Hut is reached beside Lake Bujuku, offering striking views toward Mount Stanley and Mount Baker. Overnight accommodation is provided at Bujuku Hut.

This day is reserved for acclimatization, with a short hike undertaken toward higher elevations before returning to Bujuku Valley. The additional time is used to rest, hydrate, and adapt to altitude, improving readiness for the technical climb ahead. Overnight accommodation is maintained at Bujuku Hut.

A steeper ascent is made via the Scott Elliott Pass, where rocky terrain and thinner air are encountered. The landscape becomes increasingly alpine, with exposed slopes and dramatic views. Elena Hut is reached in the afternoon and is used as the primary staging point for the summit attempt. Overnight accommodation is provided at Elena Hut.

This day is dedicated to rest, glacier familiarization, and technical preparation. Rope techniques, crampon use, and safety procedures are reviewed under the guidance of trained mountain staff. The body is given additional time to adapt to altitude, increasing the likelihood of a successful summit. Overnight accommodation is maintained at Elena Hut.

An early start is made for the ascent to Margherita Peak, involving glacier travel, fixed ropes, ladders, and exposed rock sections. The summit is attempted under close supervision, with turnaround decisions guided by weather and physical condition. Following the climb, a long descent is undertaken to the Kitandara Valley. Overnight accommodation is provided at Kitandara Hut near alpine lakes.

The circuit is continued across high ridges and steep descents, passing through remote alpine valleys with expansive views. This section is physically demanding but scenically rewarding, highlighting the isolation and raw beauty of the Rwenzori. Guy Yeoman Hut is reached in the afternoon. Overnight accommodation is provided at Guy Yeoman Hut.

A sustained descent is undertaken as the route returns to lower elevations, re-entering bamboo and montane forest zones. Changes in vegetation and temperature are clearly experienced as Nyabitaba Hut is reached once again. Overnight accommodation is provided at Nyabitaba Hut.

The final descent is completed to Nyakalengija, marking the end of the climb. Transfers are then provided onward to Kasese, Entebbe, or other destinations as arranged, concluding the mountain expedition.
