itinerary
Arrival in Entebbe
When you arrive in Entebbe, a Wildhorn Africa guide will meet you and take you to your hotel in Kampala.
If time allows, you can spend the afternoon discovering Kampala and its surroundings. Highlights include the Royal Mile with the Lubiri Palace and Bulange Parliament, the lively Ndere Cultural Centre, the historic Kasubi Royal Tombs, and the impressive Kampala Central Mosque, where you can enjoy sweeping views of the city from its Minaret.
Entebbe to Jinja
After enjoying breakfast, your Wildhorn Africa guide will drive you to Jinja, home to the source of the River Nile, a journey of about two and a half hours.
In the afternoon, you’ll have several ways to explore: paddle through nearby islands in a traditional canoe, rent a mountain bike to venture into the surrounding landscapes, or visit villages where you can interact with locals and experience their simple, traditional way of life. For a more relaxed option, unwind with a serene sunset cruise along the Nile.
Activities in jinja
Spend the day at leisure at your lodge with Wildhorn Africa, choosing from a wide range of optional activities. For thrill-seekers, there’s white-water rafting on the mighty River Nile, kayaking, or even boogie boarding through the rapids. If you prefer a slower pace, you can opt for a soothing massage, try paddle boarding on the calm stretches of water, or enjoy a scenic horseback ride with breathtaking views of the landscape.
Jinja to Sipi Falls
Today, your Wildhorn Africa journey takes you through breathtaking landscapes en route to Sipi Falls, one of Uganda’s true hidden treasures. From your lodge, you’ll be treated to stunning views as the Sipi River cascades down from the slopes of Mount Elgon.
In the afternoon, you can choose from a variety of excursions and adventure-filled activities. Take a guided nature walk, hike to one of the enchanting waterfalls nearby, explore coffee plantations or local villages, or experience the thrill of abseiling from the top of Chebonet Falls. You may also join a guided birdwatching trip or visit the fascinating Nyero rock paintings in the Kumi district.
Activities Around Sipi Falls
Today, you’ll have the entire day to discover the beauty of Sipi Falls and its surrounding landscapes.
For those seeking a true adventure, consider tackling Mount Elgon, an extinct volcano straddling the Kenya–Uganda border within Mount Elgon National Park. Its massive caldera, formed by the collapse of the volcanic cone, is the largest in the world and creates a dramatic spectacle visible from Wagagai, the park’s highest peak at 4,321 meters. The most popular route on the Ugandan side is the Sasa Trail from Budadiri, a breathtaking trek that winds through farmland, lush forests, and heather zones before reaching the caldera’s rim and continuing on to the summit.
The full climb takes about four days. If trekking Mount Elgon interests you, Wildhorn Africa can arrange a tailor-made Uganda itinerary to include this unforgettable experience at an additional cost.
Sipi Falls to Moroto Town
Today, your Wildhorn Africa journey takes you on a six-hour drive to Moroto Town in northeastern Uganda, where you’ll be introduced to the fascinating Karamojong people.
For a truly authentic cultural encounter, we recommend spending the night in a traditional Karamojong kraal. This immersive experience allows you to engage with the community and gain a deeper understanding of their way of life. You may join in collecting vegetables, herding cattle, preparing dairy products, playing local games, and listening to captivating stories shared by Karamojong warriors around a glowing campfire. It’s an unforgettable experience and sure to be one of the most memorable highlights of your Ugandan adventure.
Moroto to Kidepo Valley National Park
Today, your Wildhorn Africa adventure takes you further off the beaten path as you journey to Uganda’s most remote wilderness, Kidepo Valley National Park.
Tucked away in the northeastern corner of the country, bordering Kenya and South Sudan, this rugged park lies in the Karamoja region. Its sweeping savannahs stretch endlessly across the horizon, offering a striking contrast to the dense bamboo and misty forests of Bwindi in the southwest.
Kidepo is a premier destination for exceptional game viewing, where you may encounter herds of buffalo and elephant alongside predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, and jackals.
Safari Drive in Kidepo Valley National Park
Today, Wildhorn Africa gives you a full day to immerse yourself in the beauty of Kidepo Valley National Park. Begin with an early morning game drive, where the sunrise paints the plains in golden light — and with a bit of luck, you may spot big cats on the hunt.
Beyond game drives, you can enjoy hiking around the scenic trails of Morungole Mountain, visit the steaming Kanangorok Hot Springs, or set out on guided nature walks and birdwatching excursions for a closer look at the park’s rich biodiversity.
Kidepo to Murchison Falls National Park
This morning, your Wildhorn Africa journey takes you out of Kidepo Valley National Park and onward to Murchison Falls National Park in northwestern Uganda. The drive takes around eight hours, but along the way, you’ll enjoy several stops — both for rest and to take in some of the beautiful scenic viewpoints that break up the journey.
Safari in Murchison Falls National Park
With Wildhorn Africa, you’ll spend a full day discovering the wonders of Murchison Falls National Park.
Set out on game drives across the sweeping plains, where sightings may include giraffes, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, buffalo, kob, and hartebeest. Later, enjoy a scenic boat cruise along the Nile to the base of the mighty falls. Along the riverbanks, keep an eye out for elephants, hippos, Nile crocodiles, and — if luck is on your side — the elusive leopard. Bird enthusiasts will also be delighted by the park’s prolific birdlife, including the remarkable shoebill stork.
To round out your adventure, you’ll have the chance to experience the dramatic Murchison Falls themselves, either by boat or on a guided hike.
Murchison Falls to Kibale National Park
Today, your Wildhorn Africa journey continues with a scenic drive through Uganda’s picturesque countryside, passing lush plantations and rolling mountains along the way. By afternoon, you’ll arrive at your charming lodge in Fort Portal, nestled at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains and serving as the gateway to Kibale Forest.
Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
his morning begins with an early start as you meet the park rangers at 8:00 am for a briefing on your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Guided by Wildhorn Africa, you’ll then venture deep into Kibale Forest to track the resident chimp troops. As you move through the dense jungle, the air fills with screeches and hoots, making it feel as though the forest itself has come alive. Once you encounter a chimpanzee family, you’ll have the extraordinary opportunity to spend an hour observing them — watching as they swing through the trees, play on the ground, and build nests for their midday rest. It’s an experience that feels nothing short of magical.
Kibale Forest is also home to a variety of other primates, including colobus and red-tailed monkeys, as well as dazzling butterflies in all sizes and colors.
For an added adventure, Wildhorn Africa recommends the famous “swamp walk” — a two-hour trek through wetlands where you’ll meet local communities living in this challenging environment, all while enjoying breathtaking scenery and the chance to spot rare wildlife along the way.
Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After enjoying breakfast at your lodge in Kibale, your Wildhorn Africa journey continues as you travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, nestled at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains and lying between Lake Edward and Lake George. Renowned for its rich wildlife and impressive elephant population, this park is one of Uganda’s most spectacular safari destinations.
Once you’ve checked into your lodge, set out on an afternoon game drive across the savannah and end the day with a refreshing sundowner before returning for dinner.
Boat Trip into the Kazinga Channel
With Wildhorn Africa, you’ll spend a full day exploring the wonders of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives across the savannahs, keeping watch for the park’s incredible wildlife. You can also take a leisurely boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where pods of hippos and basking Nile crocodiles are a common sight.
For a different perspective, opt for a guided nature walk through the Maramagambo Forest or rise earl
Gorrila Trekking
After an early breakfast, your Wildhorn Africa journey takes you to the headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where your unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure begins. You’ll be assigned to one of nine habituated gorilla families, and together with your guide and park ranger, you’ll venture deep into the dense forest to track them. The trek can last anywhere from a short walk to a full day, depending on the location of the family you are following.
When you finally encounter the gorillas, you’ll have the rare privilege of spending up to one magical hour in their presence. Just a few meters away, you’ll quietly observe them as they feed, play, and interact under the watchful eye of the dominant silverback.
Later in the afternoon, you’ll return to your lodge, where the evening can be spent reflecting on this once-in-a-lifetime encounter with Uganda’s majestic mountain gorillas.
Visiting the Batwa Tribe
With Wildhorn Africa, you’ll spend today exploring the stunning Lake Mutanda, as well as the nearby lakes and the majestic Virunga Volcanoes.
One experience we highly recommend is the Batwa cultural encounter — a captivating full-day excursion where you’ll hike through the forest with a Batwa guide and gain insight into the history, traditions, and way of life of the Batwa pygmies, the original inhabitants of the Bwindi Forest for centuries.
Lake Mutanda to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, your Wildhorn Africa adventure continues with a scenic six-hour drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Though small in size, this remarkable park is rich in wildlife, home to buffalo, leopards, lions, hyenas, warthogs, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and an impressive 350+ bird species.
Upon arrival, you’ll set out on a game drive to spot the park’s incredible animals. Depending on time and preference, you may also enjoy a guided bush walk, a mountain biking excursion, or even a unique horseback safari through the savannah.
End of Tour
Today marks the perfect conclusion to your Discover Uganda journey with Wildhorn Africa. After enjoying breakfast at your lodge, you’ll be transferred by a Wildhorn Africa representative to Entebbe International Airport, where you’ll board your international flight home.
Ishasha to Lake Mutanda
Today, your Wildhorn Africa journey takes you to Lake Mutanda in southwestern Uganda, a breathtaking region often called “Little Switzerland” for its rolling green mountains and sparkling freshwater lakes. This picturesque setting is not only a base for gorilla trekking but also offers a variety of other activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, cultural village visits, birdwatching, and tranquil boat cruises across the lakes.
Queen Elizabeth National Park to Ishasha
After breakfast, your Wildhorn Africa adventure continues with a drive to Kyambura Gorge, located in the far eastern corner of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Known as the “Valley of Apes,” this remarkable landscape is best explored on a guided walk, where you may encounter chimpanzees along with red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and striking black-and-white colobus monkeys.
From there, you’ll head to Ishasha, the southern sector of the park, where you’ll have the chance to spot the region’s famous tree-climbing lions lounging high in the fig trees.

When is the best time to travel?
The best time to visit is generally considered to be during the dry season, when weather conditions are more pleasant and travel is less likely to be disrupted, typically based on your preferred destinations. During this period, landscapes are at their most vibrant, wildlife sightings are more frequent, and activities can be enjoyed with greater ease. While visits are possible year-round, choosing this window is often recommended to ensure the most rewarding and comfortable experience.
