3 Day Bwindi Gorilla Trek and Lake Bunyonyi Tour

Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda. The 3 Day Bwindi Gorilla Trek and Lake Bunyonyi Tour is an exciting tour because it lets you see the lake, take a boat cruise to see its many islands, and rest on one of its beautiful hills. This tour does two things at once because it lets you go on a gorilla walk in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas.
Hidden deep in the misty jungles of southwestern Uganda, an unforgettable encounter with nature is presented through the 3 Day Bwindi Gorilla Trek and Lake Bunyonyi Tour.
This journey begins with a scenic drive through rolling hills and rural landscapes, leading into the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest—home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. A once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience is arranged, guided by expert rangers who lead participants through dense forest trails. After a thrilling search, a rare opportunity is granted to observe these gentle giants up close in their natural habitat, an encounter that leaves lasting impressions of awe and respect.
Following the exhilarating trek, the tour proceeds to the tranquil shores of Lake Bunyonyi, known for its dramatic terraced hillsides and dotted islands. Often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa,” this lake offers a peaceful retreat where relaxation and cultural exploration are seamlessly blended. Canoe rides are enjoyed on the calm waters, birdlife is observed along the shores, and leisure time is spent in eco-friendly accommodations overlooking the scenic lake. With transportation, permits, lodging, and meals carefully arranged, this tour is perfectly crafted for those seeking both adventure and serenity within a short time frame.
3 Day Bwindi Gorilla Trek and Lake Bunyonyi Tour
Pick Up, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Afternoon Boat cruise
A experienced guide will pick you up early in the morning and inform you on the excursion before taking you to Lake Bunyonyi in western Uganda. The 457-kilometre travel from Kampala to Lake Bunyonyi takes 8 hours.
Arrive about lunchtime and rest at a lodge overlooking the lake, then take a boat tour on Uganda’s deepest lake and Africa’s second deepest after Lake Tanganyika.
Visit some of Lake Bunyonyi’s 29 islands and see water birds like grey corned cranes, herons, egrets, and cuckoos on the boat ride. Head back to the lodge and check out to be transferred to Ruhija for dinner and an overnight stay before the next day’s trek.
Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Experience
After an early morning substantial meal and packed lunch, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters in Ruhija for a ranger guide briefing on gorilla trekking. After briefing, go into the jungle to find these wonderful apes, which may take many hours or a day. The arduous activity may require ordinary fitness, walking sticks, or porters to carry heavy goods.
You must spend an hour with the mountain gorillas capturing photos for memories. Standing a few meters away from these sought-after primates as they eat, feed their young, and go about their daily lives is a rewarding and humbling experience. After the activities, relax, eat, and sleep at the lodge.
Lake Bunyonyi, the most beautiful lake in the world, and a place to relax from
After a nice meal in the morning, you will be taken back to Kampala via the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe. Here, you can take pictures of yourself standing in two different hemispheres at the same time. Additionally, you will carry out the nearby water test that shows the earth is split into two halves, or hemispheres. Eat lunch on the way. After that, you’ll go to Kampala or Entebbe Airport to catch your flight.
