Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Your safari adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport, followed by a scenic four-hour drive to the legendary Masai Mara. Along the way, you’ll pass through the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley, with a stop to admire its breathtaking views. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed at your lodge or camp with a refreshing drink and a delicious lunch.

After some time to relax, WildHorn Africa will take you on an exhilarating afternoon game drive. This first exploration of the reserve introduces you to an incredible variety of wildlife—majestic lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and, with a bit of luck, the elusive leopard, completing the Big Five. You may also encounter hippos and crocodiles along the Mara River, as well as vast herds of wildebeest during the migration season. As the sun sets, you’ll return for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge or camp.

The evening ends with the serene atmosphere of a campfire or stargazing under the African night sky, surrounded by the magical sounds of the wilderness.

Full-day Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

Day 2 starts bright and early with coffee at your lodge or camp before setting out on a full-day game drive through the magnificent Masai Mara. As dawn breaks, the savannah awakens, offering the best chance to spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and even elusive leopards on the move. After breakfast, WildHorn Africa guides you across diverse landscapes—spanning open plains, riverine forests, and rolling grasslands—maximizing your chances of encountering the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. You’ll also spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and an incredible array of birdlife along the way.

A scenic picnic lunch in the wilderness adds a serene touch to your adventure. The afternoon brings more exciting sightings, from elephants gathering at waterholes to lions lounging in the shade. As evening approaches, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation beneath the starlit African sky, cherishing the memories of another extraordinary safari day.

On Day 3, your adventure begins with breakfast at your lodge or camp, followed by a short morning game drive—your final chance to soak in the wonders of the Masai Mara and spot any wildlife you may have missed. The calm of the early hours offers opportunities to see elephants, antelopes, big cats, and a variety of colorful bird species as they start their day.

After the game drive, you’ll set off on a scenic return journey to Nairobi, traveling through the striking landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. There may be brief stops along the way for photos or to stretch and take in the panoramic views.

By late afternoon or early evening, you will arrive in Nairobi, where WildHorn Africa will drop you at your hotel or the airport, depending on your onward travel plans.
